The Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum
The best robot vacuums that self-empty have a base which holds an entire month's worth of debris and automatically empty it. It makes a thorough home map, allowing you label rooms and create "no go" zones.
It also comes with superior abilities to avoid obstacles, which means that it is safe from power cords and rogue sock.
Roomba s9+ from iRobot
This robot is a premium model from iRobot and performs well. It can easily maneuver across a range of different surfaces and is extremely efficient at sucking up dirt, dust, and debris. It's also very sturdy and looks good too.
The S9 is the latest model from iRobot's premium S Series robot vacuum. It boasts a few extra features that make it distinct from other models. The iRobot App can use, for instance, the camera to create maps that assists the robot to navigate and clean more efficiently.
It's not necessary to clean the same areas again when the battery is exhausted. You can also manually start cleaning sessions and stop them with the use of a simple voice command via the iRobot app, and this smart vacuum will even clean in the dark!
Another feature that is great is Carpet Boost, which gives the S9 additional suction power when it comes into contact with carpeting, to collect more dirt and debris. It also features an elongated front design that is more close to corners and walls than the older round designs. This model is not compatible well with shag or high-pile carpeting.
During our tests, we observed that the iRobot S9+ cleaned thoroughly and efficiently a variety floor surfaces including hard and medium-pile carpets. It also did well on laminate floors, and vinyl flooring. It also did a good job of navigating around objects and furniture, although it did struggle with stairs, where it can accidentally crash into things like bookcases.
We liked the fact that the S9 automatically returns to its base to empty its dust bin when it's full, which greatly reduces hands-on maintenance needs. The dust bag is expected to last for about 30 loads, or about a month or two and you'll need to replace the filter every once in a while (which is actually recommended by iRobot). In our experience, the iRobot S9+ doesn't get very loud during operation and is a great choice for people who live with pets or children.
Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid
Designed to take one of the most tedious tasks off your shoulders, robot vacuum cleaners take care of all the hard work to get carpeted and hardwood floors clear of every day dirt. The best ones are controlled and monitored via an app on your smartphone and some include mopping tech for kitchen and bathroom floors. They're a great option for busy families, and they're becoming more affordable than ever before. If you want top-of-the-line features on your robotic cleaner, you'll be spending a little more.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid is a complete vacuum and mopping machine making it a great choice for those in a home with multiple floors. The vacuum's 0.6l bin can hold a lot of pet hair. Its dual motors provide impressive cleaning power. The dust bin is easy to remove and emptied, which is great because you'll have to do this frequently.
It's also easy to set up, though I recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid prior to running it for the first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the directions to connect it to your WiFi network. Once you've done that the app will help you create a precise map of your home. You can name rooms and divide large spaces into sub-rooms (good for open plan living) and direct the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that require cleaning at a specific time. There are many other robots that have similar mapping and scanning functions, but Eufy's app feels more refined and intuitive than other models.
One of the best features on the X8 Hybrid is that you can control the mop or vacuum with your voice, thanks to the integration with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. This is a nice feature that makes the robot more hands-free. It worked well in our test house.
The X8 Hybrid, like many robotic vacuums, has issues with flooring that is not clean. It can miss pet fur and small objects and is known to knock things like its charger on the charging platform. It is also not as quiet and the whirring noise can be distracting automatic vacuum and mop robot like other models.
Roborock V3S Pro
The robot doesn't come with the same number of features as the more expensive models we've tested, but it does provide the essentials. It has a large enough dust bin to hold plenty of dirt before it needs emptying and its mop and vacuum system is perfect for hard floors and low-pile carpets. It is also very quiet. We were able watch television while it was cleaning without feeling like we were bombarded with the sound.
Our testers were impressed by how simple it was to set up and use, and were impressed with its ability to take all the mess off their floors. It was effective in getting rid of pet hair, messes, and carpeting, but it was a bit more difficult at getting rid of stains that were stubborn. The users found the app to be user-friendly and intuitive, and could schedule the vacuum to be cleaned on a regular basis to help reduce how much they needed to do manually. It doesn't include object avoidance or mapping technology, so it can't be used to send specific rooms or follow virtual borders (though magnetic boundaries are compatible).
The V3S Pro is another model from the iRobot's budget line. It comes with many impressive features at a reasonable price. It beat out all other robot vacuums we tested in terms of the ability to avoid obstacles and map them, and is the ideal option for those looking for an intelligent self-emptying robot vacuum that can take care of pet hair and messes both on carpets with low pile and hardwood floors. It's also quiet and has a huge dust bin which can hold a lot before it needs to be emptied.
The V3S Pro did not make it onto our top choice lists from trusted sources who test hands-on, but it received high marks from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. The V3S Pro was easy to use and set up, however the battery life was not long.
Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is a solid entry-level robot vacuum and mop that doesn't scrimp on features or price. You can avail many of the premium features, such as smart navigation and mapping, without spending a fortune. You can use voice commands using Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple Siri shortcuts for custom automations, and also to start your cleaning process while you are away.
Roborock spent a lot of time creating this clever cleaner. As a result, the product is extremely well-built and feels like it was built with top materials. Its base is sturdy and stable, with an integrated charging port for the battery. On the top is the dock for the clean water tank as well as dirty water bins. You'll also find a panel under the dock that holds an enclosed vacuum bag.
After connecting your device to the application, you will see a 3D and 2D map of your home that shows you the location of your robot at any given moment and what area it is cleaning. You can also create virtual barriers to keep the robot out of certain areas and ensure that it only cleans certain kinds of floors. It is also able to adjust its power settings based on the type of floor being cleaned and select the most effective cleaning method.
Contrary to other robot vacuums, the Q Revo can lift both mop heads while vacuuming to prevent staining your carpet fibres. It's one of the few vacuums that can accomplish this.
The Q Revo's suction force of 5500Pa can remove pet hair and dust specks when you clean. The all-rubber brush can be used to separate animal and human hair, as it adjusts to uneven surfaces.
The only downside to this machine is that it takes an extended time to empty and fill the dirty and clean tanks. Luckily, you can reduce the frequency of this by utilizing the auto-empty feature that will automatically empty the bin after a few days. You'll still have to check the water levels in the dock manually, however, since there's no way to set an automatic reminder.
